To reach Hôtel Courbaril at Anse à l'Âne from the airport by car, take the RN5 towards Trois-Îlets (about 25 minutes).

BY BOAT

To reach Hôtel Courbaril at Anse à l'Âne by ferry, take the Vedettes Tropicales from the Fort-de-France ferry terminal.

After a 20 minute ride offering beautiful views of the bay, you'll disembark at Anse à l'Âne. From there, it's just a short 2 minute walk to the hotel.

CURRENCY

The currency used in Martinique is the euro (€). Credit cards are widely accepted, but it’s always useful to have some cash for small shops and local markets. ATMs are available in major towns and tourist areas.

TIPPING

Service is generally included in restaurant and hotel bills. However, it’s common to leave a small tip (5-10%) for exceptional service. Taxi drivers and tour guides also appreciate a gesture of gratitude.

BARGAINING

Bargaining is not common in Martinique. In local markets, prices are often fixed, but it’s possible to negotiate slightly for bulk purchases.

SEASONS

Martinique has a tropical climate with two main seasons: the dry season (December to April) and the wet season (May to November). The ideal time to visit is between December and April, when the weather is drier and sunnier.

TIME ZONE

Martinique is in the GMT-4 time zone. There’s no change between summer and winter time. In winter, there’s a 5-hour difference with mainland France and a 6-hour difference in summer.

LANGUAGES

French is the official language of Martinique, but Martinican Creole is also widely spoken by the local population. English is understood in tourist areas, but it’s helpful to know a few words in French.

ELECTRICITY

The voltage in Martinique is 220V with European-type plugs (type E). Travelers from North America or the UK will need an adapter.

MOBILE PHONE

Mobile networks in Martinique are of good quality and compatible with most international carriers. If you are coming from mainland France, roaming is included in most plans. International travelers should check roaming charges or purchase a local SIM card.

HEALTH

No specific vaccinations are required to enter Martinique. Tap water is potable, and healthcare facilities are of good quality. However, it’s advisable to protect yourself from mosquitoes due to the risk of dengue and chikungunya.

PACKING

Opt for lightweight clothing in cotton or linen, swimwear, sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses. Also, bring mosquito protection and comfortable shoes for hiking. During the rainy season, a raincoat may come in handy.
